Depp clearly wanted to have lots of fun in the eccentric role, there’s a good cast around him (although not for a knockabout comedy), the books are well- liked and Koepp has previously directed four very solid films in a row. The director and screenwriter of the first movie return, as do the entire cast of terrific veteran actors.
